TEN UNCOMMONLY USED FILIPINO WORDS, DEFINITION,EXAMPLES.

1. Duyog- Eclipse

Definition: An occasion when the sun looks like it is completely or partially covered with a dark circle because the moon is between the Sun and Earth. (Source: Mirriam Webster’s)

Examples: Marami ang namangha sa Duyog.

2.Sulatroniko – E-mail

A system for sending messages from one computer to another computer : messages that are sent electronically from one computer to another.(source: Mirriam Webster’s)

Examples: Ako’y nagpadala ng sulatroniko ng aking mensahe sa aking kaibigan.

3.Labaha – Razor

A keen-edged cutting instrument for shaving or cutting hair. ( Source Mirriam Webster’s)

Examples: Ang labaha ay kalimitang ginagamit ng lalaki.

4. Durunggawan – Window

An opening especially in the wall of building for admission of light and air that is usually closed by casements or sashes containing transparent material (such as glass) capable of being opened and shut.( Source:Mirriam Webster’s)

Examples: Nakita ko sa aming durunggawan ang napakagandang bahaghari sa langit.

5. Kansunsilyo – Boxer shorts

Men’s underware shorts characterized by loose fit. ( Mirriam Webster’s)

Examples: Ginamit ni kuya ang bagong biniling Kansunsilyo ng aking mga magulang.

6. Anluwage–Carpenter

7. Kalupi- Wallet

8. Sambat- Fork

Breakfast at my House

During the week we’re often walking out the door with a coffee in one hand and slice of toast in the other, but on weekends breakfast is never rushed. It’s a late affair, sometimes spilling over to lunch, with lots of reading and chatter in between courses of fruits, poached eggs, honey and toast. One of our favorite things we like to serve when friends are visiting are buckwheat blueberry pancakes.
